It was designed to be a large hit all over the world as the gamr included many popular characters from both mario and sonic. 'With adored icons and fun game play, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games had shot to the top of the sale charts and is clearly resonating with the growing audience of casual gamers that want an engaging and accesible gaming experience. The market for entertaining games that everyone can enjoy is growing faster than any other fragment in the industry, thanks in part to the explosive popularity of wii and nintendo DS. A key element of our growth strategy in SEGA is to ddevelop and publish games that appeal to this expanding market'

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was released for nintendo DS and the wii last year across Europe and North-America. Market research from NPD indicated that it was one of ten best sellers in the U.S across all platforms around December.
